Ranking of the world's best-selling mobiles 2019

Apple continues to rampage among analysts and among consumers . According to Omdia's Market Model Tracker report , the iPhone XR was the world's best-selling smartphone in 2019 . Thus, for the fifth consecutive year, the company continues to lead the sales rankings.

As we see in the ranking, the iPhone XR was the most popular smartphone in 2019 , with 46.3 million units sold, far exceeding all other models.

Sales of the iPhone XR in 2019 were 9 million units higher than those of the second most popular model, also from Apple: the iPhone 11, with 37.3 million units during the year.

For its part, Samsung places three of its models in the top 5: the Galaxy A10, Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A20 , with 30.3 million units, 24.2 million and 23.1 million respectively. The South Korean company leads the 5G segment with the Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G and closes the top 10 list with the Galaxy J2Core.

The only model from another brand was Xiaomi's Redmi Note 7, which ranks eighth among the best-selling phones of 2019.

Prices of the best-selling Apple models

Apple limits the number of models it offers, concentrating its sales on some smartphones that have great appeal, such as the iPhone XR. "The company's continued dominance is all the more remarkable when you consider that Apple's price increases caused a decline in overall iPhone sales last year ," says Jusy Hong, director of smartphone research and analysis at Omdia.

The cheapest iPhone model released last year, the iPhone 11, was priced at $ 699 (643 euros) while the most expensive model was the iPhone 11 Pro Max, priced at $ 1,449 (1,332 euros) in 2019.

As iPhone sales prices continuously increased, the number of units sold has been declining for two consecutive years, falling 5.1% in 2018 and 4.6% in 2019.

The best-selling Samsung models

Samsung smartphones accounted for almost half of all 5G smartphone sales in 2019, with third to fifth place being occupied by Samsung's Galaxy series .

Samsung marks the lead in the recent 5G. Of all 5G smartphones, Samsung's Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G was the best seller, with 2.6 million units in 2019 . Huawei's Mate 30 Pro 5G comes in second, with 2.5 million units.

In 2019, Samsung represented 49% of the global 5G smartphone market, followed by Huawei with 27%. The also Chinese Vivo and Oppo control 12% and 5%, respectively.

Price of the best selling Xiaomi model

The Xiaomi Note series has an average price of $ 120 (110 euros) and is sold mainly in emerging markets such as India or Southeast Asia.
